Family,
On Sunday I shared about how God loves us through His word. I said I’d post the Scripture references I gave here so you can take time this week to let God’s truth wash over you. Here they are
When You Feel Overwhelmed
When you feel overwhelmed by your workload or school, you lean on God’s love and say:
“I will cast all my anxieties on the Lord, because I know He cares for me.”
— 1 Peter 5:7
When Depression Tries to Settle In
When depression from all your hurts, hardships, and challenges wants to settle on you like a heavy blanket suffocating you, you lean on God’s love and say:
“I may be sorrowful, yet I shall rejoice; I might have nothing, yet possessing everything in Christ.”
— 2 Corinthians 6:10
When Fear Grips Your Heart
When fear wants to grip your heart — an unknown future, a scary prognosis, a concern about losing someone — you lean on God’s love and say:
“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me.”
— Psalm 23:4
When You’re Faced with a Choice
When you have a choice between walking by faith or taking the comfortable way out, you lean on God’s love and say:
“I will trust in the LORD with all my heart, and lean not on my own understanding.”
— Proverbs 3:5
When You Feel Alone or Forgotten
Friends, when you feel alone or forgotten, God’s love says to you:
“I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
— Hebrews 13:5
When Temptation Feels Too Strong
When temptation feels too strong, God’s love says to you:
“No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful…”
— 1 Corinthians 10:13, ESV
When You Doubt God’s Plan
When you doubt God’s plan, God’s love says to you:
“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good.”
— Romans 8:28, ESV
When the Enemy Accuses
When Satan comes with his accusations of how sinful you are, God’s love says to you:
“There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”
— Romans 8:1, ESV
So you tell Satan to go to hell — and you believe the Lord.
Held by Love
Friends, it is God’s love that can bear us up, hold us up, keep us, guide us, and bring us all the way safely through this sin-cursed world to the safe shores of the home of heaven.
So we need the Spirit to bring us to God’s Word and let God love us through hearing His voice again and again.
May we be a church that keeps coming back to the voice of our Shepherd — trusting His love, resting in His promises, and walking by His Spirit.
With love in Christ,
Pastor Jeff
